Nikau Foundation

Nikau Foundation is a Community Foundation which invests donations, bequests and handover trusts
and then makes grants from the income to a wide range of charitable purposes in the Wellington
region in perpetuity.
The Nikau Foundation encourages donors or their lawyers to talk directly
to them about about the advantages of leaving a gift through Nikau, and the advantages of leaving a
bequest through a community foundation. Nikau administers a number of named endowments for
Wellington region organisations.

SUGGESTED WILL CLAUSES
Bequest to The Nikau Foundation Community Endowment Fund
I give free of all duties the sum of $ [or the remainder of my estate] to the trustees of the Nikau Foundation (registered charity no.CC24793) to be held in its endowment fund for its general purposes and I declare that the receipt of an authorised officer of the Nikau Foundation shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my trustees without their needing to see to the application of this gift.
Bequest creating a named endowment fund of the Nikau Foundation [needs to be >$75,000]
I give free of all duties the sum of $ [or the remainder of my estate] to the trustees of the Nikau Foundation (CC24793) to be held in a named endowment fund to be known as the [ ] to be used or applied by the Foundation Trustees both as to capital and/or income for [charitable purposes to be discussed and agreed in advance with the Nikau Foundation] in such manner and in such amounts as the Foundation trustees shall in their discretion from time to time determine and I declare that the receipt of an authorised officer of the Nikau Foundation shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my trustees without their needing to see to the application of this gift.
Bequest to existing named endowment fund (any amount)
I give free of all duties the sum of $ [or the remainder of my estate] to the trustees of the Nikau Foundation (CC24793) to be held by them in an existing endowment fund of the Nikau Foundation entitled [ ] which named endowment fund is designated principally for the purposes of [ ] and I declare that the receipt of an authorised officer of the Nikau Foundation shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my trustees without their needing to see to the application of this gift.
Residue to Nikau Foundation as Substitution Beneficiary
If the above Trusts shall fail I give my residuary estate [or the sum of $ ] to the trustees of the Nikau Foundation (CC24793) for its general purposes and I declare that the receipt of an authourised officer of the Nikau Foundation shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my trustees without their needing to see to the application of this gift.
